Winter is Coming (or so I heard)

Now that I am crocheting again, I should prepare for the winter.  Now is a good time to start that type of project.  When I did things on commission, I usually starting taking order about a month ago. That way I had time to purchase yarns on sale and increase my profits. I don't intend to take any commissions this year since I'm just getting back into this.  However, doing projects in public is a good way to advertise for a later season like spring or maybe next year in the fall.  Right now, I'm only doing this for me.

I am starting with the cowl during lunch.  It was weird handling a hook below size I after so long (crocheters will understand what I mean). This cowl is a simple pattern. It’s good for a starter and should finish in no time.  I need to purchase a new winter coat this year and picked these colors for a neutral, genderless appeal.

I include a hat also in this project, although this will not be a big-ass hat.  Those of you who know me from my “Meir Cats, Chats & Fiber” days know that I sold Big-Ass Hats; made for people with an abundance of hair to cover.  The hat was popular amongst people with braids and dreads.  I just had a lot of hair and had more hat kept my wild mane in tack.  Now that I’ve cut my hair I’ll have to crochet an average hat.  Though this is a slouch hat, it still will be a standard size so again; this is weird.

I’ll make sure to let you know how I’ve progressed.  If you are interested in the Slouch Hat or the Herringbone Cowl, they are available on Little Monkeys Crochet. They have a great FaceBook page.
