Best Laid Birthday Plans

Time seem to pass so quickly when it's crunch time for an event.  I know I packed and repacked five times this weekend, but I think we are ready for BlogPaws. I’ve been so consumed with the trip, the attack in Orlando and other life stuff that two events were left off the blog.

I didn’t forget; I just could not find a moment to post about it. Lexi Liu was born on June 16th, 2010 in South Africa.  She turned six on Thursday. Moshe Moshi was born on June 18th, 2007 in Quebec, Canada.  He turned nine on Saturday. What I had planned to do is to celebrate with them on Friday. I usually would have provided them a special meal and a stroll around town so their friends and fans could celebrate the day with us and wish them happy birthday in person, or rather cat such as it is.

It was my intent.  Well, you know how the sayings go about the best-laid plans, maybe you don't.

In John Steinbeck's book "Of Mice and Men" he quotes a little poem:

But little Mouse, you are not alone
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes of mice and men
Go often askew

The poem, mistaken as Steinbeck being the author, is an exert from a larger piece called "To A Mouse" by Robert Burns. I'm sure you can google it and read it in its entirety. Now you know, but I digress...

Human life and obligations get the better of us sometimes, and any plan I had to spend with them was taken up by last minute tasks at work and things I had to do for Mom in prep for my being out of town. I don’t think they will hold it against me. I hope to make up for it during BlogPaws.
