Good Bye Old Man

The sad news today is that our beloved Jake has lost his battle with Chronic Kidney Disease and has died.  He was age 12. Jake hadn’t been feeling well for quite some time and finding it hard to be comfortable on a day-to-day basis.  He and I spent this morning drinking goat’s milk and chewing on softened bread, sitting in the sunshine and enjoying the moment together.

Ch. Roseric Jamaican Me Crazy was born on February 11, 2003, in Glen Arden, MD. Taking “Jake” as his familiar name, he was a Cornish Rex, Red Mackerel Tabby.  He, along with the late CH. Roseric Wavemaker (Maus) came to live in his forever home July 2, 2005.

He was the most beautiful red cat I had ever seen when I chose him. He was happy and playful and full of energy.  He grew to be an extremely talkative, incredibly loud, obnoxious, demanding man cat and I loved every single minute of it.  He made life with a cat fun, chaotic, and NEVER dull.  He loved Tuna and Challah bread and had lately become very fond of goat’s milk.  I have rarely slept without him in 11 years.  Not quite sure how I will learn to sleep without his purrs at my head.

He leaves behind his adopted brother, Moshe Moshi who followed him around like any adoring little brother would and his newly adopted sister, Lexi Liu who he was just getting to know.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Maus a year earlier.  He was never the same after she died and I know if heaven exists, Maus was there to meet him.

Good-bye, my angel, love, love, love you.

    1. Thank you. A couple of years ago he and his sister had ingested people meds that resulted in damage to their kidneys. His sister died last year unexpectedly from a brain lesion and he'd hadn't been the same since. I knew the end was near, but you're never ready for it when it comes. he had a good life despite the ending and spent his last morning happy but ready to go.

  4. I have just heard about your blog and your sad loss. I am sorry not to have come here before but will be a regular now (I have two sphynx). Jake looked like he was a total old nark - in the best possible way! And his colour - amazing. I know how loving nekkids and near nekkids can be even though I am new to them, and my heart cracks at the thought of the empty bed.
Purrs for you, and Jake is undoubtedly with Maus.

    1. Thank you. Please don't let our sad news keep you away; it was because of Jake and Maus I started pet blogging (my old blogs Meir Cats, Chats & Fiber which was later renamed Coffee, Cats n' Yarn). Moshe Moshi & Lexi Liu are here to carry on that legacy. Thank You again for visiting . .
