Good-Bye to 2014

If you were on our card list this year, you received our cat-less card and the wish for a fruitful new year. Thanks to you that sent us well wishes and comfort after reading our insert. If you didn't get a card, all you have to do is send your name and address to us, and we will be happy to include you on the list for next year.

It has been a tough year for us as it has been for many. Whether health issues or economic strains, new family dynamics or lack of movement on all fronts; this has not been the best of times to look back at fondly. We lost some iconic figures; Lauren Bacall, Dr. S. Donald Stookey (invented Corning Ware), Dr. Maya Angelou, Geoffrey Holder, Robin Williams and Joe Cocker to name a few (personal to me). Of course, our personal loss will define our entire year; the passing of Maus (May 4, 2014).

The weight of the loss of Maus, though not as heavy on our souls now is still with us. It took the boyz, especially Jake a long while to adjust and though the boyz are somewhat bonding, they are not as close when Maus was here. I just miss her presence. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her in some capacity. At the very least I am starting to embrace the better parts of our relationship; her purr, her so-called meow (Ack), the way she gave a head-butt, those brilliant golden eyes, the perpetual smile she seemed to always have; even while she was ill. I don’t cry nearly as much as I did, but the tears do still come (as I write this post).

I want you to know however that we are not sad. Jake's health, for now, is okay.  Moshe Moshi is doing much better with his allergies and about to get his wonky eye worked on.  He will also participate in some new adventures in 2015.  Though we all miss our girl, Maus will always be a comfort to all of us. I intend to go into 2015 knowing with all my heart that I am blessed by my relationship with her as I am by my life with Jake and Moshe Moshi. The boyz and I wish you all a productive new year and all the hope and possibilities new beginnings often bring.

We love you all. G*d keep you.
